How to Release Anxiety at the Doctor's Office (without Anyone Knowing)
Sitting in a cold doctor’s office waiting for them to walk through the door can be nerve wracking. If it brings on anxiety, you can sneakily tap so you can feel more relaxed when you see them and no one will know!
This applies to any public situation that gives you the jitters. It’s good for public speaking, taking off in an airplane, or when someone says something to push your buttons at a party. You can calm yourself by taping on the additional points that aren’t on your upper body or face.
You also have acupressure points on your hands! You already know the karate chop point. There are points on each finger where the nail hits your fingertips. If you hold your left hand with the palm facing you, there are points on the top of the thumb, pointer, middle, and pinky fingers. Since the gamut point is in between the ring and pinky finger, there’s a point on the BOTTOM of your fourth finger. It’s close to the gamut point so it makes sense.
I personally don’t like to tap on the gamut point because I find it very sensitive. So I tap the bottom of the ring finger instead, which has the same effect. Find the pink dots on the image below to locate the points.
Tapping on your hand is the same as tapping on the typical eight points on the upper body. It is just as effective at lowering stress, cortisol, blood pressure, and the fight or flight response. The benefit is being able to use this tool in a more discreet way for when you’re in public like at the doctor’s office. You can run through a few sequences and say the phrases in your mind instead of out loud. You will get the same relief.
